Daniel Iftene is an assistant professor in the Film and Media Department of the Babeș-Bolyai University. He is specialized in journalism, focusing on cultural reporting and criticism, and Romanian film history.

In 2015, he completed his PhD in Theatre and Performing Arts at Babeş-Bolyai University, researching the artistic creation of Romanian theatre directors that worked in film and the film directors that worked on stage productions from 1900 to 1989.

His research is focused on film history and theory, and contemporary film narratives, and his work has been published in international journals and in edited volumes. Daniel has edited issues on extreme narrative in film and television, and film and theatre praxis.

Apart from his research, he works as film critic and film education programs consultant.
